Kirby Smart can relate to his player's challenging transition

Every single player on Georgia's roster came to Athens in part to play for Mark Richt and his staff. Now that Richt is out and Kirby Smart is in, it would be naive to think some players aren't second-guessing the decision to play for the Dawgs.
Well if there's one person who can relate the players, it's their new head coach.
A UGA defender in the late 90's, Smart signed up with his in-state team to play for Ray Goff only to see his coach relieved for Jim Donnan.

"I talked to them about change," Smart said. "I sat in the same place they were. I had a new coach coming in and the uneasiness about having to prove yourself again and start over sometimes, as an upperclassman is tough.
"I want to be here for them for that. We are going to challenge them. We are going to demand toughness and effort out of every person in every aspect of their life. We're going to push them harder than they've ever been pushed."
