San Jose, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Anze Kopitar scored the only goal of the game as the Los Angeles Kings took a 1-0 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Monday.

Jonathan Quick turned away 23 shots for his third shutout of the season for the Kings, who snapped a five-game losing streak.

"Quicky (Quick) was obviously solid back there and gave us a chance to win," Kopitar said. "I guess one (goal) was enough."

Los Angeles came into the game having lost seven in a row in San Jose.

Alex Stalock was the hard-luck loser, making 20 saves for the Sharks, who had a six-game winning streak broken.

"Al (Stalock) gives us a shot to win every night and tonight was no exception," San Jose captain Joe Thornton said of Stalock. "He played super."

The only goal in this game came at the 17:56 mark of the second period, as Jeff Carter sent a pass from the right wing to the slot where Kopitar was able to gather the puck and stuff in a forehand for his 15th goal of the year.

Quick saved his best work for the third period, as he made 14 saves in the final frame to polish off his 28th career shutout.

Los Angeles was able to avoid its longest losing streak since dropping eight in a row from Dec. 12-26, 2007. The team was coming off a pair of losses to Anaheim in a home-and-home, which included a 3-0 loss at Dodger Stadium on Saturday.
