Juventus failed to celebrate its 29th Scudetto with a victory as it was held to a 1-1 home draw by Cagliari on Saturday.

The Old Lady clinched the Italian title last weekend with a narrow victory over Pescara, but the club's first match as newly-crowned champions got off to a poor start.

Segundo Ibarbo opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a superb solo effort, getting past Claudio Marchisio and Andrea Barzagli before drifting inside and firing a low shot past Marco Storari.

Juventus pushed for an equalizer, which eventually came just after the hour mark through Mirko Vucinic.

Marchisio played a cross into the box in the 61st minute that was headed on by Arturo Vidal. Cagliari goalkeeper Michael Agazzi failed to catch the flick, allowing Vucinic to tap home the loose ball from close range.

Juventus climbs to 87 points on the season while Cagliari improves to 44 points.

Catania 1, Pescara 0

Catania, Italy - Alejandro Gomez netted the lone goal at the Stadio Angelo Massimino on Saturday to help Catania claim a 1-0 victory over lowly Pescara.

After a scoreless first half, Catania wasted no time in breaking the deadlock after the restart as Gomez scored six minutes into the second period.

Catania held on to that goal to improve to 55 points and climb into eighth place in Italy's top flight. Pescara remains rooted to the foot of the table with 22 points.
