Juve held to draw by Fiorentina

Florence, Italy (SportsNetwork.com) - Juventus dropped points for just the third time in 14 Serie A matches on Friday as the Old Lady was held to a 0-0 draw at Fiorentina.

After a run of six successive wins in all competitions, Juventus failed to hit the heights on Friday in a match that saw both sides struggle to create chances.

Fiorentina's Juan Cuadrado was lively and he threatened the Juve net with a shot from the edge of the penalty area that forced goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon to make a diving stop.

Paul Pogba had the best chance for the visitors in the opening half when he cut in from the left and shook free from two defenders before driving a shot narrowly over the crossbar.

Cuadrado had the best opportunity after the break for the Viola when he once again brought out a fine stop from Buffon with a well-struck effort from the top of the box.

Things really fizzled out as the match came toward an end with both sides seemingly content to take home a point.

The result leaves Juve four points clear of second-place Roma, which hosts Sassuolo on Saturday with a chance to close that gap to a single point.

Fiorentina is unbeaten in its last five fixtures and sits in seventh place in Serie A after Friday's result.
