Jordan scores 22 as Texas A&M-Corpus Christi overwhelms Houston Baptist 65-45

John Jordan had 22 points as Texas A&M-Corpus Christi overwhelmed Houston Baptist 65-45 Saturday night.

A&M-Corpus Christi is now in sole possession of second place in the Southland Conference after Sam Houston State lost to Oral Roberts 80-73 Saturday night. The Islanders (15-14, 12-4) assured themselves a first-round bye in the conference tournament with this win. The tournament begins March 12.

Jordan, who now has 999 career points for the Islanders, made 7 of 15 field goal attempts. The Islanders shot 42.6 percent from the field while holding Houston Baptist to just 29.6 percent shooting.

Zane Knowles pulled down 17 rebounds for A&M-Corpus Christi as the Islanders outrebounded HBU 65 to 45.

Joy Williamson had 11 points and Rashawn Thomas added 10 for A&M-Corpus Christi.

The Islanders held a commanding 38-18 halftime lead.

Rob Lewis led HBU (6-23, 1-14) with 10 points.
