Back in July, the Sixers announced that Joel Embiid would require an additional foot surgery that would require to miss a second consecutive NBA season.
The news was devastating to Embiid, obviously, who had looked great in workouts and was feeling no pain as he continued to rehabilitate the injury. Because of that, and because he wanted to consult with Kevin Durant (who underwent a similar procedure last season), there was a delay in getting the surgery scheduled.
It's now set for Tuesday of next week, according to Marc Spears of Yahoo Sports.
This likely doesn't change anything where Embiid's timetable for returning to action is concerned. But for the more curious segment of the fan base that had been wondering what was going on, this news will provide a little bit of comfort that the process for getting Embiid healthy is now officially underway.
