There's talk about the Miami Dolphins looking to find a replacement for kicker Caleb Sturgis. The first day of practice on Thursday didn't help Sturgis' case, missing two 44-yard field goals. The Dolphins' kicker has struggled in his two years in the league, making just over 77 percent of his field goals in that time period.

In 2014, he ranked towards the bottom of the league in field goal percentage, which has led the Dolphins to look elsewhere.

Sturgis' competition in camp, undrafted rookie Andrew Franks, has already gotten rave reviews from head coach Joe Philbin.

"Yeah, he's got pop in his leg," Philbin said, via CBS South Florida. "You guys see that. You come out here and you watch him and you go, 'Oh, geez, there's some pop there.' The ball comes off his foot. Again, not perfect every time, but there's something to work with there, for sure."

Philbin isn't completely selling Sturgis out and saying he's done, but Franks seems to have some potential. It's a battle to watch throughout Dolphins camp, and one that could have implications on the regular season kicker.
