Defenseman Robyn Regehr also scored for the defending Stanley Cup champion Kings, and Martin Jones made 33 saves. Los Angeles thwarted a pair of 5-on-3 power plays — one that lasted 1:26 in the second period and a 48-second advantage in the third.

Emerson Etem and defenseman Sami Vatanen scored for the Ducks. Frederik Andersen stopped 24 shots. The Kings completed a home-and-home preseason sweep of the Ducks.

Anaheim tied it 2-2 with 2:43 left in the second when Etem converted a rebound, but the Kings regained the lead 1:14 later on Carter's second goal.

He completed the hat trick 3:02 into the third.
