Utah Jazz assistant coach Scott Layden left his position with the team on Wednesday and will take over as assistant general manager for the San Antonio Spurs.

Layden began his career with the Jazz in 1981 as an administrative assistant and scout before moving up to an assistant coach in 1982. He then took over as Utah's director of player personnel and ultimately became the team's vice president in 1996.

In 1999, Layden took over as general manager of the New York Knicks for the 1999-2000 season and later became team president before rejoining the Jazz in 2005 as an assistant coach.
