EDMONTON, Alberta – Jaroslav Halak made 19 saves for his third shutout of the season in the St. Louis Blues' 3-0 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night.
Chris Stewart, Alexander Steen and T.J. Oshie scored to help the Blues improve to 17-11-2 with their sixth victory in the last eight games. The Oilers dropped to 11-12-7. They have lost three of their last four, though two of those were in extra time.
The Blues opened the scoring at 3:20 of the first period when Stewart elected to shoot on a 3-on-2, beating Nikolai Khabibulin with a long wrist shot from the top of the circle for his 15th of the season.
The Blues made it 2-0 2:55 into the third period. Steen took a shot that went off the end boards, but was able to swat in his own rebound before Khabibulin could get back into position.
St. Louis put it away with 8:51 to go when Oshie took a pass in full flight in front of the net and made a nifty deke before scoring on the backhand.
The Blues are 11-1-1 in their last 13 games against Edmonton
The Blues conclude a three-game trip in Calgary on Sunday night, while the Oilers hit the road for their next game on Monday night in Nashville.
Notes: It was the second of three meetings between the two teams. The Blues took the first 4-2 at the beginning of March.
