Jackson, Johnson help Tennessee Tech coast past Hiwassee 87-48

Charles Jackson scored 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds, leading Tennessee Tech to an 87-48 rout of Hiwassee on Sunday.

Jordan Johnson added 18 points for the Golden Eagles (5-3), who shot 47 percent from the field. Tennessee Tech outscored Hiwassee 44-26 in the paint and had a 25-5 advantage in fastbreak points. All 12 Tennessee Tech players that saw action scored, leading to 52 bench points.

The Golden Eagles pulled away in the first half with a 19-3 run ignited by Anthony Morse's dunk. Johnson had two 3-pointers and a pair of layups to push out for a 46-23 halftime lead. Tennessee Tech coasted in the final 20 minutes.

The Tigers were held to 19-of-65 shooting (29.2 percent) and committed 23 turnovers, leading to 29 points for the Golden Eagles. Aarrio Johnson paced Hiwassee with 12 points and eight rebounds, and Kaseem Davidson contributed eight points.
