The New York Islanders announced Friday that forward Trevor Gillies has agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way contract. No financial terms were disclosed.
Gillies, 32, established career highs in goals (2), points (2) and games played (39) in his 12th professional season and his second with the Islanders. The Cambridge, Ont., native ranked second on the team with a career-high 165 penalty minutes.
In 54 career NHL games with the Islanders and the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, Gillies has 2 goals, 1 assist and 261 penalty minutes. The Islanders originally acquired the 6-foot-3, 227-pound forward as a free agent on Jan. 28, 2010.
Gillies has played in 354 career AHL games with the Lowell Lock Monsters, Worcester IceCats, Providence Bruins, Lowell Lock Monsters, Springfield Falcons, Hartford Wolf Pack, Portland Pirates, Albany River Rats and Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
