Iowa City, IA – Iowa sophomore linebacker Shane DiBona will likely miss the 2011 season with an Achilles tendon injury.
He suffered the injury during Wednesday's practice and underwent surgery on Thursday at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Dr. Ned Amendola performed the surgery and DiBona is expected to make a full recovery, but will likely miss the entire 2011 season.
After his redshirt season in 2009, the Duxbury, Massachusetts native played in all 13 games last year and made two starts, totaling six solo tackles and seven assists.
