The Cleveland Indians announced Tuesday that the club has placed infielder Asdrubal Cabrera on the bereavement list.

The move is retroactive to Monday as Cabrera has returned to his native Venezuela to grieve the death of an immediate family member.

Cabrera is hitting .282 this season with two home runs and three runs batted in and must remain on the bereavement list for a minimum of three days and a maximum of seven.

The Indians recalled pitcher Nick Hagadone from Triple A Columbus to replace Cabrera. The 26-year-old lefty has made four scoreless relief appearances with five strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings with the Clippers this season.
