Indians, Masterson agree to 1-year deal

Goodyear, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - The Cleveland Indians and pitcher Justin Masterson agreed to terms on a one-year contract Tuesday, avoiding arbitration.
No financial terms were disclosed, but multiple outlets reported he'll make $9.76 million in 2014.
The towering right-hander finished 14-10 with a 3.45 earned run average and three shutouts over 193 innings in 32 games (29 starts) for the Tribe in 2013.

Since arriving in the majors during the 2008 season with the Red Sox, the 28- year-old Jamaican-born and Ohio-raised hurler has gone 53-63 with a 4.03 ERA in 212 appearances -- 150 of those as a starter.
