Hundley, Zimmerman share NL weekly award

San Diego Padres catcher Nick Hundley and winners of the National League player of the week for the period ending August 21.

Hundley led the majors last week with a 1.083 slugging percentage over seven games with four triples and 26 total bases. He batted 12-for-24 and scored eight times as the Padres went 5-2 during the week. It's his first weekly award.

Zimmerman also batted 12-for-24 with three home runs and seven RBI. His ninth inning grand slam on Friday capped a six-run inning for the Nationals in an 8-4 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. Washington went 4-2 during the week.

Other's considered for the award included Milwaukee outfielder Ryan Braun, St. Louis catcher Yadier Molina, Philadelphia pitcher Roy Halladay and Atlanta pitcher Tim Hudson.
