Houston Astros player switches look during game, still goes hitless

AP (Houston Astros' Alex Bregman points to dugout after hitting a game-winning double to score two runs against the Tampa Bay Rays.)

Can a few strands of facial hair help snap a player’s cold streak?

Houston Astros’ third baseman Alex Bregman certainly hoped so.

Bregman came into Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Royals with one hit in his last nine at-bats — and a mustache.

He stepped up to the plate in the second inning with the ‘stache and was walked with the bases loaded, which scored the team’s second run.

In his next at-bat, however, Bregman was seen clean shaven. After the game, the 24-year-old told reporters there was no particular reason for the change, saying he “just shaved it,” according to ABC 13.

But the subtle change didn’t seem to help, as Bregman finished the game 0-for-4 with a strikeout.
