Edinburgh, Scotland – Michael Higdon scored in the first half as Motherwell defeated Hearts, 1-0, on Tuesday at Tynecastle Stadium in the Scottish Premier League.
Motherwell won its second straight to climb within five points of Rangers for third place, and opened an eight-point cushion over Dundee United for third.
Hearts lost for the second time in three games since the split and is sixth on 49 points.
On Wednesday, Aberdeen hosts Hibernian, Inverness hosts Dunfermline, Rangers hosts Dundee, and Kilmarnock hosts St. Mirren. On Thursday, Celtic hosts St. Johnstone.
