ATLANTA – Taylor Heinicke threw at least three touchdown passes in his fourth game of the season and Old Dominion's rushing attack punched in four touchdowns in the Monarch's 53-27 win over Georgia State on Saturday.
Heinicke, who finished with 351 yards and three passing touchdowns, entered the game as the Football Championship Subdivision's leader in passing yards and total offense. He threw a 9-yard touchdown to Marquel Thomas to open scoring and his second 4-yard touchdown of the day gave the Monarch's a 39-7 third-quarter lead.
Old Dominion (8-1, 5-1 Colonial Athletic Association) — the FCS's top offense — racked up 556 total yards, including 205 rushing. Tyree Lee led the Monarch's with 126 yards on 25 carries and Angus Harper added 45 yards. Lee and Harper both scored twice.
Georgia State's (1-9, 1-6) Ben McLane threw for 226 yards but completed just 13 of 32 passes and was intercepted twice.
