Heerenveen trounces AZ Alkmaar

Heerenveen, Netherlands (SportsNetwork.com) - Sam Larsson scored a pair of goals to lead Herenveen to a comfortable 5-2 rout of AZ Alkmaar at the Abe Lenstra Stadion.

It didn't take long for the visitors to open the scoring as Steven Berghuis found the back of the net for Alkmaar in the first minute of play, but it was all downhill for the traveling club after that.

Simon Thern equalized for Herenveen on the stroke of halftime and Luciano Slagveer gave Herenveen the lead just prior to the hour mark.

Berghuis doubled his tally in the 58th minute to make it 2-2, but Larsson struck in the 76th and 83rd minutes to increase the lead to 4-2, while Joey van den Berg capped the rout with a goal three minutes from time.

Also in the Dutch top flight on Saturday, Bertrand Traore netted a pair of goals to go with one more from Renato Ibarra in stoppage time as Vitesse earned a 3-1 win over Excelsior.

Adnane Tighadouini scored a first-half double, but Giovanni Korte and Everon Pisas answered back as NAC and Dordrecht played to a 2-2 draw.

Finally, Kolbeinn Sigthorsson and Lucas Andersen found the back of the net to lift Ajax Amsterdam to a 2-0 win over Heracles.
