NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Desmond Haymon scored 17 points on Thursday night, leading Stephen F. Austin to a 57-42 victory over Sam Houston State.
Stephen F. Austin (25-3, 15-2 Southland) also got 14 points and 10 rebounds from Antonio Bostic.
Stephen F. Austin had a 35-23 rebounding advantage, with Jacob Parker and Taylor Smith collecting nine apiece.
Sam Houston State (15-15, 8-9) was led by James Thomas, who scored 10 points.
Sam Houston State was off-target from the floor, shooting just 34.9 percent, and shot just 14 free throws for the game, making eight.
Haymon was a perfect 8-of-8 from the line.
Hal Bateman sparked the Stephen F. Austin defense with five steals.
