Estoril, Portugal (SportsNetwork.com) - Fifth-seeded Frenchman Richard Gasquet and rising Aussie Nick Kyrgios were a pair of quarterfinal winners Friday at the inaugural Estoril Open tennis tournament.
Gasquet erased fellow former top-10 star Nicolas Almagro of Spain 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) in the Day-5 nightcap, while the 20-year-old seventh seed Kyrgios cruised past Dutchman Robin Haase 6-3, 6-4 on the red clay at Estoril Tennis Club.
Up next for Gasquet will be dangerous Spaniard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, while Kyrgios' semifinal opponent will be Spain's Pablo Carreno Busta, who posted a mild upset by taking out eighth-seeded Gilles Muller of Luxembourg 6-2, 6-4.
