Fresno State pulls away in 2nd half to beat Sonoma State 89-64

Tyler Johnson had 25 points and eight rebounds Sunday and Fresno State beat Sonoma State 89-64 to snap a four-game losing streak.

Marvelle Harris added 20 points for the Bulldogs (6-7), who never trailed against the Division II Seawolves. Johnson was 9 of 12 and Harris made 7 of 9 from the field for Fresno State, which shot 55 percent as a team. Kevin Olekaibe scored 15 points for the winners.

Fresno State led 43-35 at halftime, but turned the game into a rout by shooting 57 percent in the second half. The final margin of 25 points was the Bulldogs' largest of the game.

Will Olsem led four players in double figures for Sonoma State (4-4) with 13 points. Patrick Scott added 12 points, and Steve Lackey and Emmanuel Bradford scored 10 apiece.

Fresno State opens Mountain West play Jan. 9 at home against No. 17 San Diego State.
