Fresno State holds off Louisiana Tech 63-56
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Garrett Johnson scored 17 points as Fresno State defeated slumping Louisiana Tech 63-56 on Thursday night.
Fresno State (7-6, 3-0 Western Athletic Conference) won its third in a row, despite having won only one of five previous road games. And the 5-0 home record with which Louisiana Tech (9-8, 0-3) entered the game wasn't enough to prevent Tech's fourth consecutive loss overall.
Greg Smith had a double-double (14 points, 12 rebounds) to aid Fresno State, which built its largest lead at 18 points early in the second half.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Louisiana Tech's Olu Ashaolu answered with his own double-double (20 points, 11 rebounds), but his team never came closer than five points, once Fresno State established its biggest advantage. Ashaolu's dunk with 40 seconds left made it 61-56.
DeAndre Brown added 16 points for Louisiana Tech.
