Jeff Freeman and Gary Hallberg both carded under 66s Thursday to move into a tie for the lead after three rounds of the Champions Tour National Qualifying Tournament at TPC Scottsdale.
They duo finished 54 holes at 15-under-par 198. Freeman birdied six of eight holes on the back nine to grab a two-stroke lead, but he double-bogeyed the last to fall into a share of the lead.
Jim Rutledge, who fired a 62 to lead after the second round, posted a one- under 70. He slipped into a tie for third at minus-13.

Bill Glasson matched the low round of the day with his eight-under 63. That helped him jump into a tie for fourth at 12-under-par 201. He stands alongside Mark Mouland (64), Ben Bates (66) and Kirk Hanefeld (67).
The top-five players from the 78-player field will earn full status next year on the Champions Tour.
