FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) – Free agent linebacker Jason Taylor is meeting with the New York Jets for a second day as coach Rex Ryan tries to persuade the NFL's active sacks leader to join the top-ranked defense.
The six-time Pro Bowl pick is at the team's facility Thursday and has met a number of Jets players, who say Taylor would be a welcome addition. Taylor has spent 12 of his 13 seasons with the Miami Dolphins, including last year when he had seven sacks.
The 35-year-old Taylor would provide the Jets with a proven pass rusher.
Taylor has had a contentious relationship with Jets fans during his career, calling them ignorant and classless. Linebacker Calvin Pace believes the fans will put that aside if Taylor signs with New York.
