Fish swims into Rogers Cup semis

Top American Mardy Fish posted a quarterfinal victory Friday at the $2.43 million Rogers Cup, an ATP Masters and U.S. Open Series event.

Despite dropping serve five times in the first two sets, the sixth-seeded world No. 8 Fish held off 14th-seeded Swiss slugger Stanislas Wawrinka 6-3, 6-7 (8-10), 6-0 in 2 hours, 21 minutes on the hardcourts at Uniprix Stadium.

Fish will meet the Tomas Berdych-Janko Tipsarevic winner in Saturday's semifinals at this former Canadian Open.

The Wimbledon quarterfinalist Fish is seeking a trip into a third final this year. He titled in Atlanta last month.

The 2011 Rogers Cup titlist will pocket $450,000.
