COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) A Texas A&M player kicked off the team following his 2014 arrest in a drug-related case must serve 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to robbery.
Ex-defensive lineman Isaiah Golden of Carthage was sentenced Wednesday in College Station as part of a plea deal on three robbery counts. A judge could reconsider the penalty for the 21-year-old Golden, possibly converting the prison term to probation, after the former Aggie serves four months behind bars.
Prosecutors are also requiring Golden to testify against another ex-A&M player, linebacker Darian Claiborne, who was also arrested in 2014 and dismissed from the team. Court documents indicate Golden and Claiborne were accused of robbing three men at gunpoint during an alleged drug deal.
