Erdinc rescues a point for Rennes

Melvut Erdinc rescued Rennes with a goal in 1 with Lille at the Stade de la Route de Lorient on Sunday.

Rennes was behind the eight-ball from the beginning as Onyekachi Apam was sent off in the 37th minute when he picked up two yellow cards in quick succession.

Three minutes later, Lille grabbed the lead as Aurelien Chedjou's strike provided the visitors with a vital lead.

It looked as if Chedjou's goal would hold up as the winner, but Erdinc equalized in second-half stoppage time to see Rennes split the points.

Rennes keeps pace with Lyon, which played to a 4-4 draw with PSG on Saturday, to improve to 40 points on the year.

It may prove to be costly draw for Lille though, as it falls two more points off the pace of Ligue 1 leaders Montpellier. Lille sits third in the table on 46 points, seven points shy of Montpellier.

Brest 1, Marseille 0

Brest, France - Brest held on to a first-half goal in the 17th minute to shock Marseille with a 1-0 defeat at the Stade Francis-Le Ble on Sunday.

Paul Baysse scored the lone goal of the match, and his first for Brest since signing with the club in 2010, to help his side avoid defeat for the third straight match. Brest has taken five points from its last three games to climb to 11th place in Ligue 1.

Marseille's title aspirations have fallen by the wayside as it drops further away from the top of the table. Winless in its last three league games, Marseille sits seventh on 39 points.

Toulouse 2, Sochaux 0

Toulouse, France - Toulouse grabbed goals on opposite sides of halftime in a 2-0 win over Sochaux on Sunday, giving the club its second straight victory.

Aymen Abdennour provided the opening goal just nine minutes into the game, while Emmanuel Riviere doubled the advantage in the 55th minute with his fourth goal of the Ligue 1 season.

Toulouse's 40 points thus far puts the club in sixth place, while Sochaux remains bottom of the table on 20 points.
