Edu completes switch from Rangers to Stoke

Stoke-on-Trent, England (Sports Network) - Stoke City signed U.S. midfielder Maurice Edu from Rangers on Friday.

Edu, 26, previously passed a physical and agreed to a three-year deal with the English Premier League club, and finalized his move on transfer deadline day.

Capped 37 times for the United States, Edu can also play center back. Edu was already granted his international clearance, and could play against Wigan this weekend.

Edu started his career with Toronto FC in MLS in 2007 and joined Scottish club Rangers in 2008. Rangers was relegated from the Scottish Premier League due to financial problems after last season.
