MURRAY, Ky. – Jeremy Granger made a jumper with 3 seconds left as Eastern Illinois pulled out a 61-60 victory over Murray State on Thursday night.
Isacc Miles, whose two free throws gave Murray State a one-point lead with 25 seconds left, took the Racers' last shot — an errant 3-point attempt as time expired. It was only the second time in 23 games, a span of two seasons under coach Billy Kennedy, that the Racers had lost at home.
It also was the first time in the last seven meetings that the Panthers had won. Eastern Illinois is 2-19 all-time at Murray State, with the other win coming on Jan. 17, 2002. Murray State has won 22 of 28 in the series since the start of 2000.
Granger led the Panthers (8-10, 4-4 Ohio Valley Conference) with 18 points, and James Hollowell added 16 to go along with nine rebounds.
B.J. Jenkins led Murray State (12-6, 5-3) with 15 points.
