Ducks sign first-round pick Rakell

The Anaheim Ducks signed forward Rickard Rakell to a three-year, entry-level contract.

The 19-year-old Rakell was the final player selected in the first round -- 30th overall -- of the 2011 NHL draft.

In 60 games last season with the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League, the Swede recorded 28 goals and 34 assists. He added two goals and 12 points in 13 playoff contests.

The Ducks also signed defenseman Matt Smaby to a one-year contract.
