Last year's runner-up and current world No. 1 Novak Djokovic has been installed as the top seed at the U.S. Open, which will get underway Monday in New York.
The three-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic, who lost to 10-time major titlist and former No. 1 Rafael Nadal in last year's U.S. Open finale, is the reigning Wimbledon and Australian Open champion and an amazing 57-2 this year, including a whopping nine titles already.
The top-five seeds in New York will be the two-time U.S. Open runner-up Djokovic, the reigning U.S. and French Open champion and Wimbledon runner-up Nadal, five-time U.S. Open champ and 2011 French Open runner-up Roger Federer, Aussie Open runner-up and 2008 U.S. Open finalist Andy Murray, and gritty Spaniard David Ferrer. Murray upset and injured Djokovic in last week's hardcourt ATP Masters final in Cincinnati.

The rest of the top-10 seeds are two-time French Open runner-up Robin Soderling, flashy Frenchman Gael Monfils, U.S. Open Series winner Mardy Fish, former Wimbledon runner-up Tomas Berdych, and Spaniard Nicolas Almagro.
Two other notable seeds at the year's final Grand Slam event are No. 18 Juan Martin del Potro, who upset the 16-time major champion Federer in the 2009 U.S. Open final, and No. 21 Andy Roddick, the former world No. 1 who captured the Open in 2003 and was the 2006 runner-up to Federer.
This year's U.S. Open singles champ will pocket at least $1.8 million, and the U.S. Open Series winner Fish has a shot at earning a record $2.8 million in Flushing Meadows.
