The Arizona Diamondbacks recalled pitcher Bryan Shaw and selected the contract of infielder Jake Elmore from Triple-A Reno on Saturday.
The moves come after the Diamondbacks lost two players from their active roster: infielder Willie Bloomquist to the 15-day disabled list with a strained lower back and pitcher Mike Zagurski to an assignment designation.
The 24-year-old Shaw pitched to a 2.25 earned run average in Reno after being optioned on July 22. In the majors, Shaw is 1-4 with a 4.26 ERA with two saves in 43 games this season.
