Diamondbacks' Hudson tears UCL

Arizona Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson announced Wednesday that pitcher Daniel Hudson tore his ulnar collateral ligament.

Hudson may seek a second opinion on the diagnosis.

Hudson left Tuesday's game in Atlanta in the second inning after allowing five runs on seven hits in 1 2/3 innings.

After posting a 3.49 earned run average in 222 innings in his first full season as a starter in 2011, Hudson has struggled this year. Despite a 3-2 record, he has given up 62 hits and 12 walks in 45 1/3 innings and has a 7.35 ERA.
