BALTIMORE – Davon Usher scored 21 points as top-seeded Delaware pulled away in the second half for an 87-74 victory over fifth-seeded Northeastern in a Colonial Athletic Association semifinal on Sunday.
Delaware (24-9) advanced to the CAA championship on Monday, its first trip to a conference final since 2001 when playing in the America East.
Northeastern (11-21) rallied from an early 10-0 deficit to take a 42-39 lead right after halftime. But Delaware heated up and made 19 of 25 from the field in the second half, including runs of 7 and 11 consecutive shots made.
Delaware shot 59 percent for the game and five players scored in double figures — Jarvis Threatt (19), Devon Saddler (16), Carl Baptiste (14) and Kyle Anderson (10) in addition to Usher. Threatt also had 11 rebounds, five assists and four steals.
Scott Eatherton led Northeastern with 20 points and Reggie Spencer had 18.
