Katherine Harry scored 13 points to lead a balanced offense and No. 16 DePaul routed Providence 71-38 on Wednesday night.

The Blue Demons (14-2, 2-0 Big East) never trailed and opened an early 16-2 lead before the Friars (7-7, 0-2) made their first field goal. DePaul, which had been idle for two weeks, led 40-18 at halftime and by as many as 35 points in the second half.

Guard Sam Quigley scored 12 points for DePaul while Keisha Hampton added 11 points and a game-high eight rebounds. Guard Lola Wells topped the Friars with nine points.

The 38 points is the fewest given up by the Blue Demons this season.

DePaul's lead twice hit 24 points in the first half as it hit 15 of 23 shots. Providence made only 4 of its 20 shots in the opening period.

The Blue Demons led 40-18 at half time, then briefly slumped as the Friars opened the second half with a 6-1 run that cut the deficit to 17 points. A basket by Harry and 3-pointer by Quigley pushed the advantage to 46-24.

DePaul led by as many as 35 points in the final 3 minutes.

The victory was the 10th in their last 11 for the Blue Demons, who visit No. 18 St. John's on Saturday.
