DePaul routs NJIT 90-43

Felicia Chester scored 15 points to lead a balanced offense in No. 13 DePaul's 90-43 victory over New Jersey Institute of Technology on Thursday night.

The win was the fifth straight and 15th in 16 games for the Blue Demons (18-2) who never trailed.

Katherine Harry had 14 points and 14 rebounds while Anna Martin added 13 points. Keisha Hampton had 12 and Taylor Pikes 10 for DePaul, which is unbeaten in the Big East.

The game was originally supposed to be played on Dec. 29, but was postponed because of a snowstorm that blanketed the Northeast.

Jessica Gerald scored 21 points for the Highlanders (5-11), who entered with a two-game winning streak.

It took less than 5 minutes for DePaul to open up a double digit lead. the Highlanders rallied to 24-16 with 10 minutes left, but a 14-0 run by the Blue Demons broke it up.

Kristian Parker finally ended the drought for NJIT, but consecutive 3-pointers by Sam Quigley in the final 1:28 of the half gave the Blue Demons a 54-25 advantage at the break.

It was only the second time this season DePaul had topped 50 points in the first half.

DePaul opened the second half with a 11-0 run for a 65-25 advantage and lead never dipped below 33 points.

Thursday's game was the 150th at McGrath Arena, located on DePaul's north side campus. The Blue Demons are 129-21 at the facility, which replaced Alumni Hall in 2000.

DePaul is 11-0 this season at home and hosts Seton Hall when it resumes Big East play on Saturday.
