Philadelphia, PA – In a not-so-surprising move, the Arizona day disabled list Tuesday with a fractured right fibula.
Marquis suffered the injury when New York Mets center fielder Angel Pagan ripped a line drive off his leg during Sunday's game.
The Diamondbacks, unforeseen leaders of the NL West, acquired the right-hander from the Washington Nationals at the trade deadline to strengthen their rotation.
Marquis is 0-1 with an inflated 9.53 earned run average in three starts with Arizona. The soon-to-be 33-year-old was 8-5 with a 3.95 ERA in 20 starts for the Nationals.
The Diamondbacks also selected the contract of pitcher Wade Miley from Triple- A Reno and designated pitcher Kevin Mulvey for assignment.
Miley, a 24-year-old southpaw, went 8-3 with a 4.30 ERA in 22 combined starts with Double-A Mobile and the Aces this season.
