Cubs, Wood agree to one-year deal

Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - The Chicago Cubs and pitcher Travis Wood agreed to terms on a 2014 contract Friday, avoiding arbitration.

The one-year deal is worth $3.9 million, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Wood went 9-12 with a 3.11 ERA in 32 starts en route to his first All-Star selection last year. The left-hander also pitched 200 innings for the first time in his career.

In 97 career games (93 starts) with the Reds and Cubs, Wood is 26-35 with a 3.83 ERA.
