The Chicago Cubs officially signed 20-year- old Cuban outfielder Jorge Soler to a nine-year major league deal on Saturday.

Terms of the deal were not announced, although the Chicago Tribune reported the deal is worth $30 million.

Soler will report to the club's facility in Mesa, Az. next week and has been played on the Cubs' 40-man roster.

Soler was seen as one of the top Cuban prospects out there, and several teams, including the Yankees, had apparently bid for his services. In the 2010 World Junior Championships, Soler hit .304 with a .500 on-base percentage and .522 slugging percentage in seven games for the Cuban national team.

Soler is 6-foot-3 and is projected to play in the outfield.
