Detroit, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Mark Arcobello's second goal of the night with 1:52 to play in overtime lifted the Arizona Coyotes to a 5-4 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday.
Arcobello took a stretch pass from Oliver Ekman-Larsson, raced into the Detroit zone and slipped a low shot past Jimmy Howard for the deciding marker.
David Moss also scored twice, John Moore lit the lamp and Mike Smith made 33 saves for the Coyotes, who ended an eight-game losing streak.
"We competed hard, hung around the game and our power play came through big for us," Arizona head coach Dave Tippett said.
Jakub Kindl and Justin Abdelkader each tallied a goal and an assist, while Luke Glendening and Gustav Nyquist also scored in Detroit's third loss in the past four games.
"Once we got a goal, they got one back," Detroit captain Henrik Zetterberg said. "These kind of games you want to get two points."
Howard gave up all five goals on 22 shots in defeat.
Moss put Arizona in front 3-2 on a deflection of Klas Dahlbeck's shot off a faceoff win into the net with 4:52 remaining in the second.
The Red Wings tied the game just 1:57 into the final stanza on Kindl's slap shot from the high slot.
Arizona was unable to capitalize on a full two-man advantage minutes later after Marek Zidlicky went off for four minutes for high-sticking and Darren Helm was penalized for a slash on Smith a minute later.
Moss put Arizona ahead while on the power play as Ekman-Larsson's wrist shot from the top of the right circle went off Moss with 10:41 to play.
After a shot went off Abdelkader in front, Nyquist tipped the puck out of mid- air for a 4-4 game with 6:21 to play.
Arizona got on the board first as Craig Cunningham's shot from the left circle went off Howard's stick and Zetterberg's knee before Moore knocked it in with 8:17 left in the first period.
Glendening tied the game three minutes into the middle stanza as he redirected Kyle Quincey's point shot.
The two teams traded goals during a 36-second span as Arcobello scored on the power play with a snap shot at 10:56 of the second and Abdelkader took a stretch pass from Kindl and finished off a breakaway with a wrister for a 2-2 game with 8:28 left in the frame.
