Corbin makes push for No. 5 job in Mariners' rotation, pitches into 5th of 8-6 win over Padres

Patrick Corbin had another strong spring start, pitching into the fifth inning Sunday as the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the San Diego Padres 8-6 in a game between split squads.
The left-hander who threw 107 innings in the major leagues last season and is competing for the No. 5 spot in the starting rotation, allowed one run on nine hits in 4 2-3 innings. He struck out four.
Diamondbacks first baseman Kila Ka'aihue homered, had two hits and drove in four runs. Arizona designated hitter Didi Gregorious had three hits and two RBIs.
