Sunrise, FL – Scott Clemmensen made 22 saves as the Florida 1 victory on Thursday.
Sean Bergenheim, Mike Santorelli and Matt Bradley tallied goals for the Panthers, who snapped an eight-game losing streak against the Kings. Florida had not beaten Los Angeles since November 27, 2002.
Drew Doughty scored the lone goal for the Kings, losers in three of their last four.
"We started the game in the first really well and just couldn't find the back of the net," Kings forward Dustin Brown said. "It was more of the same for us. We have got to find ways to score more goals."
Jonathan Quick started the game for Los Angeles but was replaced at the start of the third period by Jonathan Bernier after allowing two goals on 11 shots. Bernier stopped all 11 shots he faced in relief.
Bergenheim broke a scoreless tie at the 4:52 mark of the second period with a slap shot from the slot that screamed past the glove of Quick.
Santorelli then sent the Panthers into the third period with a two-goal advantage when he one-timed a Tomas Fleischmann pass into the top-right corner from the right circle with 2:46 left in the second.
Doughty brought the Kings within one with 2:28 left in regulation when he finished off a feed from Anze Kopitar with a one-timer from the slot, but Bradley sealed the win for Florida with an empty-netter.
"We really got back on our heels and that's not the type of game that we want," said Clemmensen. "We want to take it to the other team and we want to be going the whole 60 minutes."
