MILWAUKEE (AP) The Chicago Cubs have agreed to terms on a major league contract with Joe Nathan, a veteran reliever recovering from Tommy John surgery.
Terms of the deal, announced before the game Tuesday in Milwaukee against the Brewers, were not announced. The Cubs put the 15-year veteran on the 60-day disabled list as he continues to recover from surgery in April 2015.
The 41-year-old Nathan has 377 career saves, eighth most in major league history. He last pitched on April 6, 2015, in his only appearance that season for the Tigers.

Detroit declined its $10 million option on Nathan in the offseason. The six-time All-Star has also pitched for San Francisco, Minnesota and Texas.
