Cejka declared winner of Colombia Championship
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Bogota, Colombia (SportsNetwork.com) - Alex Cejka was declared the winner of the Colombia Championship Sunday after rain washed out play for the fourth straight day.
Not a single round was able to be completed on it's scheduled day throughout the entire tournament, causing the third round to be completed Sunday morning.
Cejka, who was through just a single hole of his third round when was play was halted on Saturday, fired an 8-under 63 on Sunday to vault into first place at 14-under-par 199.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}He was able to maintain his lead through nine holes of the fourth round when play was suspended. The players were not able to return to the course, so scores were reverted back to the third round and Cejka was awarded his first career victory on the Web.com Tour.
"When they announced it was going to be 54 holes I was a little relieved," Cejka said. "I wanted to complete the round but I'm so happy to have won again."
Andrew Putnam shot a 3-under 68 during his third round on the Fundadores Course at Bogota Country Club to finish in second place at 11-under 202, while Carlos Ortiz (67) ended in third at 10-under.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Bill Lunde (70) was alone in fourth at minus-9.
Cejka birdied the first on Saturday before play was called for the day, and returned to the course Sunday with a birdie at the second to meet overnight leader Lunde at 8-under.
After parring the next three holes, Cejka recorded three birdies in a five- hole span from the sixth to jump to 11-under and claim sole possession of first.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The German would later add back-to-back gains at the 14th and 15th before tripping to a bogey at the 16th, dropping him back to minus-12.
Cejka, however, bounced right back with birdies at the 17th and 18th to finish the third round with a 3-stroke lead.
"I wouldn't mind playing 72 holes, but sometimes there is nothing you can do," said Cejka. "I had a feeling the rain might come again. I just tried to hang in there. I knew it was going to be tough this afternoon so I was just grinding."

NOTES: Cejka does have four career wins on the European Tour ... Cejka's 63 in the third round set a new course record ... A total of 2.2 inches of rain fell on the course over the last four days ... The last tournament on the Web.com tour to be shortened to 54 holes was the 2013 Stadion Classic at UGA ... The Colombia Championship has now become the first tournament in tour history to have a 36-hole event, a 54-hole event and a 72-hole event.
