Carp's HR boosts M's over Angels

Seattle, WA – Mike Carp hit a go-ahead, two-run homer in the 3, in the opener of a game series.

Dustin Ackley went 3-for-3 with a double, triple and two RBI for the Mariners, who put the brakes on a three-game skid.

Tom Wilhelmsen (2-0) set down the Angels in order in the top of the eighth to earn the win and Brandon League worked around a Mark Trumbo double in the ninth to record his 32nd save of the season.

Trumbo belted a two-run homer for the Angels, who have dropped three of four after a six-game win streak. They fell to 3 1/2 games behind the AL West- leading Rangers.

Hisanori Takahashi (3-3) allowed two runs in 1 2/3 innings of relief to suffer the loss.
