Cardinals' Wainwright exits with injury

Milwaukee, WI (SportsNetwork.com) - St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright was forced to leave Saturday's game at Milwaukee after injuring his left leg while taking a swing at the plate.

Wainwright stumbled out of the batter's box while fouling out to Brewers catcher Martin Maldonado in the fifth inning. The All-Star hurler then limped back to the visitor's dugout with the aid of the training staff and did not come back out to the mound for the bottom of the frame.

Mitch Harris, a U.S. Naval Academy graduate recalled by the Cardinals earlier this week, made his major league debut in Wainwright's place.

Wainwright had held Milwaukee scoreless through his four innings of work, during which the veteran right-hander struck out four and yielded just three hits.
