Cardinals select UNI running back Johnson
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - If running back is making a comeback in the NFL, then Northern Iowa's David Johnson wants to be a part of it.
At least the Arizona Cardinals hope so.
The Cardinals selected Johnson in the third round of the NFL Draft Friday night with the 86th overall pick.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Johnson, at 6-foot-1, 224 pounds, has good size and speed for the backfield, and he brings a shifty running style and excellent pass catching ability to the NFL.
He set 15 school records at UNI, finishing with 4,682 rushing yards, 6,854 all- purpose yards and 64 touchdowns in his career. The All-Missouri Valley Football Conference standout is the only player in UNI history with three consecutive 1,000-yard seasons.
At the 2015 Senior Bowl, he had a game-high 141 all-purpose yards and a rushing touchdown.
