Cardinals put Walden on DL

St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - The St. Louis Cardinals announced prior to Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates that they have placed reliever Jordan Walden on the 15-day disabled list with right bicep inflammation.

The Cardinals recalled reliever Sam Tuivailala from Triple-A Memphis to replace Walden.

Walden has allowed just one run on seven hits over 10 1/3 innings this season, his first with the Cardinals.

Tuivailala, 22, who appeared in two games with the Cardinals last September, had allowed just one unearned run in his eight appearances with Memphis.
